Improve loading and unloading times, reduce fuel consumption, CO² emissions and accident risks with WABCO's OptiLevel™ air suspension control.

Inefficient operations affect everyone involved in your fleet business, from managers and drivers down to the customer. They can lead to delayed shipments, unhappy customers, poor fleet performance and higher costs if not addressed. Whether it’s down to too much time spent loading and unloading cargo, unsatisfactory vehicle performance or excessive fuel consumption, the financial and business costs of inefficiencies soon start to add up.

Determining the reasons behind inefficient issues will enable you to gain control and improve your general operations. WABCO’s OptiLevel air suspension provides a host of added benefits to improve inefficiencies, including time consuming tasks, high fuel usage and emissions.

OptiLevel™ delivers a powerful solution fleet managers looking to enhance several key areas across their operations

OptiLevel™ for trailers

OptiLevel air suspension, also known as ECAS, integrates six suspension functions into one, designed to offer more economical control of trailer height than conventional air suspension. One of the main six functions automatically controls ride height to improve fuel economy, helping reduce fuel consumption and CO² emissions – leading to a leaner and greener fleet. This in turn can help you promote a greener company image, as you improve your fleet’s ecological impact.

OptiLevel maintains a specified level during the loading and unloading process, which helps speed up loading procedures. An added benefit of the automatic suspension is that it allows docked trailers to change the height level without an attached tractor. This simplification in the loading process has a knock-on effect to help improve delivery times, leading to improved customer satisfaction and overall performance levels.

As the driver can remain in the cabin during loading and unloading, OptiLevel minimises the risk of accidents. The electronically controlled air suspension also assists the driver in keeping to the permitted axle load when loading the trailer, improving the cargo distribution and safety aspects for both the driver and vehicle.

OptiLevel™ features

OptiLevel delivers a powerful solution for fleet managers looking to enhance several key areas across their operations – improved loading times, fuel consumption and safety levels. It helps drivers keep loads within the permitted limits and offers various functions to speed up the loading procedures. Key features of OptiLevel include:

  • Maintains specified level during loading and unloading processes
  • Provides Return-to-Ride function
  • Assists the driver to adhere to permitted axle load
  • Automatically controls ride height to improve fuel economy

OptiLevelTM offers six suspension functions:

  • Lift & Lower – manually lift and lower trailer height when truck power is disconnected.
  • Memory Level – ensures the trailer base is level with the unloading bay, with pre-programmed settings.
  • Return-to-Load Level – restores the trailer height when extra weight is added or removed (if a forklift drives into the trailer to move the cargo, for example).
  • Return-to-Ride – restores trailer height to ride level, allowing it to safely pass beneath bridges, tunnels and other height restrictions.
  • Fuel Saving Suspension – save up to 100 litres of fuel and reduce up to 275kg of CO² emissions per truck per year.
  • OptiLevel 2.0 – keeps the trailer platform parallel to the ground if cargo is loaded or unloaded unequally.

One of the suspension functions, OptiLevelTM 2.0, makes the unloading process easier by lowering the front or rear of the trailer, while keeping the trailer platform parallel to the ground when the cargo is unequally loaded. It offers a level control system that automatically adjusts the trailer platform independently between left and right, or front and rear. This suspension function comes with a high variety of control options via SmartBoard, OptiLink™, Remote Control Unit, Control Box and switch.

Use OptiLevel to improve loading times and procedures, minimise accident risk, drive down fuel costs and enhance the green credentials of your fleet operation.
