Reduce fuel costs and emissions with OptiFlow™ TrailerSkirt™. Install the simple retrofit system to improve efficiencies across your fleet.

Efficient fuel cost management is one of the most important KPIs for every fleet manager. Fuel savings often come from optimising cargo loads, tire pressure monitoring, driver training and using other technologies. However, improving the aerodynamic performance of your vehicles is another simple solution. Designed for maximum load, trucks and trailers usually have a challenge to become aerodynamic, with the underside being a major contributor of drag that results in high fuel consumption.

An effective way to combat this is by improving the aerodynamic profile of the vehicles in your fleet. Fitting aerodynamic upgrades such as OptiFlow™ TrailerSkirt™ to your trailers can significantly reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, leading to a leaner and greener fleet.

WABCO's OptiFlow™ TrailerSkirt™ can be fitted to a large range of trailers, helping you create a more aerodynamic and efficient fleet.

OptiFlow™ TrailerSkirt™ for trailers

OptiFlow™ TrailerSkirt™ was developed using the latest aerospace technologies, to enhance the aerodynamic profile of the trailer and stabilise the flow behaviour around the chassis on the road. Designed to tolerate a harsh environment, the trailer fairings redirect the airflow at the lower end and guide it all the way to the trailer’s aft, along the rotating wheels. Improving the aerodynamic profile through this simple retrofit solution considerably reduces drag and delivers those all-important fleet fuel savings that continuously add up for every mile.

If you’re looking to run a leaner and greener fleet, then OptiFlowTM TrailerSkirtTM ticks every box. EPA SmartWay verified and C.A.R.B. pre-approved, this certified technology also has the lowest total acquisition cost. Coupled with the simplicity of the components and fitting technology, installation across your fleet becomes more viable. In addition, the potential for reducing fuel consumption is huge as OptiFlowTM TrailerSkirtTM offers up to 5% fuel savings for vehicles travelling at 65mph – a substantial saving when you look at the bigger picture.

For a cost-effective way to reduce your fleet’s fuel consumption and carbon footprint, WABCO’s OptiFlowTM TrailerSkirtTM can be fitted to a large range of trailers, helping you create a more aerodynamic and efficient fleet.

OptiFlow™ TrailerSkirt™ features

OptiFlow™ TrailerSkirt™ combines WABCO’s proprietary mono clamp technology on the system’s mounting brackets with the panel’s tough, fibre-reinforced plastic composite. With a single bolt per unit, these brackets are best-in-class to install and are maintenance free.

They are strong enough to withstand the daily operation demand and offer unique flexibility to bend both inwards and outwards in case of object collision, due to low standing obstacles such as snow. Loading bay guides TrailerSkirts are available in a number of different lengths as standard, with custom sizes, colours and assembly possibilities. Box vans can be fitted with single or three panel sections. Alongside proven fuel savings and CO2 emission reduction, they also boost vehicle safety by offering improved stability and handling in cross winds and help to reduce spray on wet roads.

Key features include:

  • Aerodynamically designed and tested for proven fuel savings
  • Unique one bolt mono clamp technology for fast installation
  • Thermoplastic strut allows flexing in both directions
  • Tough fibre reinforced plastic composite UV stable panels
  • Helps reduce spray on wet roads
  • SmartWay verified and C.A.R.B. pre-approved
  • Fits all reefer and dry van trailers
  • Available in different lengths for 28’ to 48’ and 53’ trailer applications
  • Standard availability – white and black, other colours available upon request
  • Maintenance-free designs
