Make trailer management easy with OptiLink™ – a smartphone app ideal for truck drivers. Learn more about its benefits and functions.
When it comes to keeping trailers on the road, controlling and monitoring key functions in real time is useful to improve performance. During loading, unloading and driving, having a good overview and control of important trailer functions helps drivers keep things leaner and safer. They can make effective decisions to lift or lower axles without having to stand next to the trailer when loading – for example.
OptiLink from WABCO is a neat smartphone app that makes life easier for drivers and fleet managers alike. It links to your trailers and provides a warning when there is an issue, allowing drivers to control certain functions from the cabin, such as securing the trailer through Trailer Immobilizer.
This can help them react quickly, including taking action through the myriad functionality without even having to leave the cab – the widest range of functions available through a single mobile device. Available for free in the Google Play Store and the App Store for iOS, it’s part of the new generation of data-led products making trailer management more flexible.

How does OptiLink work?
OptiLink is simple to install – comprehensive instructions are provided. OptiLink connects to the trailer’s electronic braking system (TEBS) via an ECU. The ECU is then connected to the OptiLink smartphone app through a WLAN connection, following a pairing process that acts as a security authentication.
This allows the driver to make commands directly to the trailer, such as lifting or lowering the trailer’s chassis. The app then displays information for monitoring and has several control options – adding up to 18 vital functions in total.
OptiLink features
If you’re looking for a feature-rich trailer control unit, look no further than OptiLink. It provides real-time data to support your drivers in their daily operations through the convenience of their smartphone. They can use the 18 trailer-control and monitor functions from their smartphone for easy access.
Among others, the monitoring functions include:

Benefits of OptiLink
OptiLink is a great way to increase the safety and performance of your fleet in numerous ways. By putting a trailer app directly in the hands of your drivers, you can enable them to use cab-based control, which will not only save them time climbing out and operating trailer functions externally, but also makes such processes safer. It is essential when visiting construction and other sites where drivers are not allowed to exit the cab too.
If you have WABCO’s tyre pressure monitoring system OptiTire™ fitted, the app will warn drivers when tyre pressure drops too low, which can lead to inefficient fuel economy and reduce safety levels. This makes it easier for your drivers to quickly fix such issues before they get worse.
Further benefits of OptiLink include:
- Axle load provided during the loading process, so the driver can sit securely in the cabin.
- Monitor the tilt angle in the app during the unloading process, so the driver can adjust if necessary
to prevent tipping to the side. - Adjust the Finisher Brake to change the braking pressure during uphill and downhill, compensating
for road slope angles. - Drivers can view TailGUARD™ distance information, informing them of moving and static objects
in the blind spot to make reversing and parking easier. This is supported with audio in the cabin. - ODR and trouble codes sent by ODR email function to analyse a trailer’s function or complete a
trip report to the fleet owner.
Simple to download for Android and iOS smartphones and intuitive to use, OptiLink is a superb way to make your fleet operation smoother, slicker, protect your drivers and enhance the bottom line.
