It is with great excitement and pride that I welcome you to the inaugural WABCO News Brake!

Distributed quarterly, our aftermarket newsletter will explore industry trends and issues while delivering helpful information specific to WABCO products, distribution, service, business tools, marketing initiatives and more. If it’s happening in the world of WABCO, you’ll read all about it right here.

To get things started, I’d like to mention what I feel is the most significant WABCO aftermarket news in recent years—the newly expanded and enhanced WABCO aftermarket product and service platform, resulting from the termination of an exclusive distribution agreement with Meritor, Inc. As you may have heard, OE service providers and aftermarket parts distributors now have direct access to the complete range of WABCO North American aftermarket products, as well as all related sales, distribution, customer service and technical support functions—with the goal to help North American fleets keep vehicles operating safely and at peak efficiency.

This is great news for our customers, and a prime example of the exciting content our newsletter will feature—in this issue and over the quarters to come.

Addition of “Essential” Series to WABCO Air Dryer Cartridge Portfolio

The WABCO Essential Series Air Dryer Cartridge is the newest addition to our complete line of air dryer cartridge solutions for the entire lifecycle of a commercial vehicle. Designed to replace air dryer cartridges on older vehicles and vehicles with competitor air dryers with spin-on style cartridges, the Essential cartridge joins a portfolio that includes the System Saver® Series—our premium OE replacement cartridge—and our high quality, economically-priced ProVia Series Air Dryer Cartridge. WABCO Remanufactured Air Compressors

Established in 2010, WABCO Reman Solutions specializes in remanufacturing electronic and mechatronic components as well as traditional mechanical products made by us and other manufacturers. Our ever-expanding portfolio—which includes remanufactured air dryers, hydraulic power brakes (HPB), trailer anti-lock brake systems (ABS) and automated manual transmissions (AMT)—now features highly durable WABCO genuine remanufactured air compressors. Remanufactured in our state-of-the-art, 61,000-square-foot facility in Rochester Hills, Michigan, USA, WABCO remanufactured air compressors meet the same performance standards as a WABCO OE compressor to ensure top performance and reliability in the toughest operating conditions. Incidentally, on April 9th, we joined with manufacturing companies around the world to recognize Global Remanufacturing Day. Sponsored by the Remanufacturing Industries Council, “Reman Day” was created in 2018 to promote the economic and environmental benefits of remanufacturing. On that day, we also announced that we achieved ISO 45001 Certification at our Rochester Hills, Michigan, USA facility based on an environmental audit conducted in 2019. This certification recognizes consistency throughout the organization and is built around the concept of “best practices for everyone, everywhere,” demonstrating our commitment to remanufacture products in a culture of health, safety and environmental efficiency.

Another cause for celebration was the fact that in 2019 alone, the Rochester Hills, Michigan facility salvaged over 275 tons of steel, aluminum and iron!

In April, our distributors were introduced to the dramatically expanded and enhanced WABCO distribution network via a comprehensive Distributor Welcome Pack.

In addition to providing an overview of the WABCO aftermarket offerings available through the new network—including WABCO Original parts, WABCO Reman Solutions and ProVia quality aftermarket parts—the welcome pack details the ever-growing range of distributor business tools and technical support resources designed to maximize uptime and streamline each step in customers’ maintenance and repair processes.

Upgraded Customer Portal is Easier, Faster with Lots of Features to Love!

Formerly known as “Inform,” the new WABCO Customer Center represents our continuing efforts to simplify the online experience for our customers. With quicker search and faster online ordering capabilities for OE dealers and distributors, our new portal combines all the technical details previously available on the Inform platform (including technical attributes, cross references, drawings and applicable documents) with the convenience of purchasing products from our electronic catalog in just a few simple clicks*. Equally impressive, we’ve also improved online account management, making it easier for customers to track orders, access order histories and organize deliveries to various locations, through a digital address book.

High-Performing Hebron Distribution Facility Gets Bigger & Better

How do you make an already exceptional distribution center even better? You expand and enhance it until it becomes one of the most advanced distribution hubs throughout the industry. That’s exactly what we did with our Aftermarket Distribution Center in Hebron, Kentucky. Logistically located at the heart of North America’s vast trucking network, our Hebron facility seamlessly meets the expanding needs of more than 5,000 customers by providing convenient, rapid access to the complete WABCO aftermarket product offering.

With a $3 million investment, the state-of-the-art facility features new dock space, equipment, pallet locations and office space, as well as the latest warehouse management technologies. To keep things running like a well-oiled machine, the Hebron workforce has been doubled in 2020. But the really impressive number comes in the form of shipping capacity, which has been increased by more than 300 percent!
